1998 Jeep Gr Cherokee has battery drain when not operating. Anyone have similar problems?
Mechanic disconnected the computer and that stopped the drain on the battery, but every time I turn on the car, I have to reboot the computer system, which is a pain, especially for short trips. Any suggestions?

Maybe the battery is duff, ie not holding a charge.
With the vehicle shut off the doors closed, disconnect the battery ground cable, put a 12V test light between the battery negative a known good ground. If it lights, something, like an interior or glovebox lamp, is staying on. Remove fuses 1 at a time to find the problem circuit. I suspect you’ll find something besides the CPU is pulling juice.
my closest experience to this was when i worked at an auto auction and we had 100′s of these Jeeps back then and it seemed that half of them had this problem. it turned out that there was a dial on the signal switch that controlled how long the interior lights stayed on. it could be hit accidently and could even keep them on all the time. so from then on when they came in we turned the switch off and never had anymore problems. hope this helps.
