Can you help me with a plumbing problem? The sink in one of my bathrooms drains very slow. I have had a?
plumber out several times and nothing seems to help. If I am washing out something, or brushing my teeth and leave the water running, the sink fills up. Then it takes probably 15 minutes for it to drain. A friend of mine told me to put hydrogen peroxide in it. This helped somewhat, but in a very short time, it slowed down again. I even put two bottles of peroxide in it one time.

If a plumber couldn’t fix it, I’m not sure any regular household remedies would either. The only thing I can think of is to use Drano. That worked in our clogged tub.
Pour 1 cup salt or baking soda, 1 cup white vinegar, and 1 cup boiling water down the drain. Let it set 30 minutes, and then flush with cold water. Repeat weekly.
Get a plumber who is old. They have seen most problems.
Younger ones have not.
My experiences.
Try CLR brand Power Plumber, it is just a can of air that you hold over the drain opening and push down on the can. I have used it numerous times in different applications and it has always worked very well. I purchased it from an ACE Hardware store but I’m sure it’s available about anywhere.
CALL AN EXPERIENCED PLUMBER WHO WILL TAKE TRAP AND TRAP ELBOW OFF, RUN A 3/8 CABLE DOWN AND MORE THAN LIKELY WILL PULL BACK A WAD OF HAIR AND GUNK, FROM MY EXPERIENCE THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS FIX IT IN A BOTTLE OR CAN, GET TO THE SOURCE.
If the plumber doesn’t know what’s wrong with it, you may have a more serious problem with some sort of clog in your pipes farther down the line where they meet with the waste pipe. Ask to have an older, or experienced plumber to look at it, as he may have to snake it, (although they only go so far), or you may have to replace them leading to that sink, (depending how old they are, and if they are plastic, or copper). For most blockages close to the sink end, I usually use One Second Plumber which should be available at most hardware stores. There are no chemicals, as it shoots a blast of compressed air into the pipes to dislodge the clog. This may or may not work, depending on where, and what type of clog you have. You may want to try it first, as it is cheaper than the plumber, and if it doesn’t work, then you may have to call him. Good luck.
